How much financial support do events get from Hack Club?

Great question! Lets take a look at how our grants will work.

Each event gets a fixed, per-signup amount from Hack Club.

In the United States and Canada, this value is USD 7.50 and CAD 7.50 per signup respectively. For a complete list of values for each country, please refer to the list below:

Note that these amounts are per signup! Our expectation is that only 50% of the signups will actually show up in-person. So you essentially have 2x the amount of money per attendee (USD 15 in the United States, for example).

Note that this amount is supposed to be baseline funding for your event. You are 100% expected to raise additional money to get nicer meals and buy fun stuff for your event! This funding is the bare minimum you need to make your event happen.

After Daydream is over, we will withdraw any money from your account that was sent to you from Hack Club. For example:

  • You get a $500 funding support from Hack Club
  • You raise $2500 on your own
  • At the end of the event, you have $1000 left

In this scenario, we will only take the $500 back since that is what we gave you in the beginning. You can make decisions about the money you raised yourself! Please note that you will not be allowed to use your HCB account after the event. You can either start your own club / hackathon on HCB and transfer the funds over, or donate it to a nonprofit of your choice (including Hack Club HQ!)
